In 1949 LEGO produced bricks different from those we are used to nowadays, these were the primitive Automatic Binding Bricks.
They are very rare these days, however my buddy Conchas could get some of these in order to make a building that resembles a style of houses common in a Portuguese region called Alentejo.
He says that building with these bricks is actually very hard and takes a lot of patience. What if Brick Town Talk had been created in 1949? :D

Uauu!!
ReplyDeleteI'm proud to see this building (well more an house) that I made, highlighted in such famous Blog.
In fact I hadn't take any special care to build this, and made it yesterday, just for the joy ;-)
Thought it would be interesting to try to build something with these LEGO very early bricks, doors and windows, that took me so hard to get specially in quantity.
Also an opportunity to justify the money spent, apart the propose of increase my collection with them.
In fact you can't imagine (yes, you can...) how hard is it to build with such old slotted bricks (ABB) made of Cellulose Acetate, that reached our days most of them considerably bent and deformed. This because LEGO used at that time, such instable CA (plastic) material.
Things changed a lot since OKC created that all, in 1932 ;-)
Long live to LEGO (TLG) and to our joy!
